Popular question:

Q: My vasectomy took fifteen minutes…is the reversal similar?

A: A reversal takes about 2 and half hours. Because the small openings on each side are open for this period of time, there is the likelihood of more swelling. The reversal is a  minor procedure with small risk of serious complications, but due to the time it takes to perform bruising and swelling is common. Having said that, there are patients who say that there was more swelling with their vasectomy than with the reversal.
